JO Tokyo 2021: Omega official timekeeper and limited editions.

Following the cancellation of the event in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 32nd Olympiad of the Modern Era takes place from July 23 to August 8, 2021 in Tokyo. With 33 different sports competing in this out-of-the-ordinary edition, the number of athletes and the number of events (339 in all) have increased sharply this year. The Omega brand is the official timekeeper of the competition for the 28th time since the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, and this partnership has been extended until 2032.

Omega Speedmaster Tokyo 2020

For this 2020 edition the brand had seen big by launching Speedmaster (one per color of the Olympic ring) published each at 2020 copies. This reference, equipped with caliber 1861 in a 42mm case, is now a much sought-after collector’s item following the postponement of this world-famous event. The Tokyo 2020 logo is engraved on the back of the case (while the competition will take place in 2021).

Omega Seamaster Diver 300 Tokyo 2020

Omega also launched a limited edition Tokyo 2020 line for its other flagship model, the Seamaster. But if this one was less noticed and made less ink flow than its big sister, this Seamaster edition is a total success. It features a 2020 Seamaster Aqua Terra Tokyo, a 2020 Seamaster Planet Ocean Tokyo and a 2020 Seamaster Diver 300 Tokyo.

This limited edition series has only been distributed in Japan: it goes without saying that if you have the opportunity to buy one of these models, do not hesitate.
